Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is an environmental approach aimed at leaving the natural world in a measurably better state than before.
In the UK, it’s not just a practice but a legal framework produced by DEFRA that requires developers to ensure that commercial, industrial and residential projects ultimately have a positive impact on England's habitats.
BNG is quantified in units. Ecologists assess the biodiversity impact of a building project, and, separately, the value add of a biodiversity uplift project at a corresponding site. We work closely with a best-in-class ecological team for all our mapping.
